I’m welcoming 2016 with open arms, not that 2015 was bad or anything… So come December I really started to think about making positive changes in my life and if you follow me on Instagram, you might have noticed a sudden spike in activity (especially with the food pics).
I haven’t ever been shy about having Crohn’s disease, especially online, before I really thought about what I was doing, I was blogging about coping (or not coping) with the disease when I was first diagnosed as a sort of therapy, almost. I am part of a Facebook group (which has stemmed a lot of worries about online-privacy with vulnerable people) and I tweet about the disease a lot too, so it really is part of my digital identity.
So I’ve got to this point in my ‘remission’ when I actually sat and thought that I was still very much reacting to my Crohn’s whenever it caused any upset. I am deemed as being in remission and have been for about 4 years now, but it doesn’t mean I am completely symptom free. So instead of waiting for an upset stomach, I’ve been researching into how I can manage my symptoms (and hopefully the condition) through my lifestyle choices. I am now thinking much more carefully about my diet; not to say I was ignorant to what upset me before, but I can’t carry on being that foolish.
So now I have been stepping up my game with my diet. I’m still forever learning, so please stay with me and if there are any dieticians, Crohnies, IBD-ers, and IBS-ers out there please say hello!
You really are taking this very seriously, aren’t you? I am very proud of you. Xx
