Crikey, as if it’s already 10 days into the year.
I feel really excited about this year. I’m not one for new years resolutions or any of that, but I am determined to make this year a good one.
First and foremost, my health comes first – learning when to slow down is crucial and I don’t want to end up battling Crohns-induced fatigue. I am drinking significantly more fluids (don’t worry, I’ve not turned to alcoholism, I barely drink the stuff for health reasons) and adjusting my fitness regime so that it’s more functional (bouldering, bodyweight exercises etc).
Secondly I have a lot of PhD goals for 2019. I’d like to have my background, literature review and first empirical chapter all polished by Easter (pray for me). I’d like to have my work published in a peer-reviewed journal. I want to design and complete my second study, the goal being that by 2020 I should have room for a final experimtal study before writing everything up (that’s not already pretty much written). I cannot believe this is my last full year of my PhD before submission in 2020… gulp!
At the end of the month my contract as the Horizon CDT Social Media Specialist will expire. While I am sad that I won’t be enjoying that little bit of extra money coming in, on reflection I do have a lot of PhDing to get done.
There are a ton of other personal things that I want to get done this year, but they’re not things I particularly want to share on my blog, cos y’know, privacy.
Wishing you all an exciting and healthy 2019! Let’s get to work.
