#Picbod Photograph your Tribe

Throughout our relationship together I have photographed Jamie in ‘our space’. Within these walls we talk of stories and of our anxieties about our lives outside of these spaces. Jamie is really comfortable with me photographing him. I don’t do it all the time, because I don’t objectify him and every day life does come before my photographic practice, as it does for many.

On this morning I had already told Jamie about this task in hand and set up the camera before going to shower. When I had come back, he watched the football casually as I dried my hair. Throughout this I photographed him a lot and in a lot of them he looked distressed. I had the camera set to a timer. For the first time I jumped into the image with him.

Am I an exhibitionist? Maybe.

I’m not sure what this is supposed to represent or mean. But it’s two young people. And, at the same time, I wanted to try something new. However, I don’t think this is the end of this task at all. I would like to investigate this further and have more of a discussion, although Jamie believes I picture him very honestly.
